Learn How To Think In English

You can use these techniques to improve your brain-to-mouth speed when speaking English. In other words,  to improve your English fluency!

It’s all about learning to think and speak at the same speed as you do things, or as you see things.

In these videos, the speaker is describing his own actions and what he sees – just like a detective!  I know that sounds a little crazy – but if you try it yourself, you will see that it really works.

Even if you are an advanced speaker you will be surprised at how many simple words you can’t think of when you need them. OK, let’s try the method now!

Watch this video then try the same techniques yourself – talk about what you are doing, when you are doing it. It is more difficult than you think!

The suspect steps out on to the pavement. He’s wearing a black coat, dark hat and carrying a bag.

He approaches a blue car, puts the bag in the car. He closes the boot, looks around and gets into the car. A red car passes by in the opposite direction. He reverses the car then drives out into the road.

At the end of the road he turns right, he drives down a hill and passes a yellow van. He turns left then turns right.

He passes a man in a bright yellow jacket then passes a skip full of rubbish and parks by the side of the road in a quiet street.

He looks around then gets out of the car. He takes the black bag out of the boot, he closes the boot and walks across the street.

He arrives at a house and walks up the steps. He turns his key in the lock then opens the door.

Now let’s try the same, but this time in American English!

Notice that some of the words are different between British English and American English!

The suspect steps out on to the sidewalk. He’s wearing a black coat, dark hat and carrying a bag. He approaches a blue car, puts the bag in the car.

He closes the trunk, looks around and gets into the car. A red car passes by in the opposite direction. He reverses the car then drives out into the road.

At the end of the road he turns right, he drives down a hill and passes a yellow van. He turns left then turns right.

He passes a man in a bright yellow jacket then passes a dumpster full of trash and parks by the side of the road in a quiet street.

He looks around then gets out of the car. He takes the black bag out of the  trunk, he closes the trunk and walks across the street.

He arrives at a house and walks up the steps. He turns his key in the lock then opens the door.
